Larger Dining Tables
Enjoy communal dining with larger tables in our main dining room, perfect for solo travelers to connect with others and make new friends. Hosted by our knowledgeable team members, these tables offer a chance to share stories and enjoy complimentary wine and beer with your fellow adventurers.
Pre-dinner Cocktails
We encourage guests to enjoy pre dinner cocktails in the bar or in one of the viewing lounges. After a tiring day this is always a good time to engage in a debrief and reflect on the day.
Evening Activities
Depending on the nature of the voyage and the physical exertion we arrange some evening activities or encourage people to sit around the bar and “make new friends” with E team members on hand to answer questions or simply have a chat.
Inclusiveness
We don’t offer any guest any priority and ensure everyone is included in activities and fully enjoys the experience. Onboard we are informal and other than issues relating to safety our E team and hotel personnel are always able to assist and engage. We see it as our mission to make every passenger feel special and maximize their enjoyment in what we believe will be a life changing experience.
No Room Service!
Although room service is offered by many operators, we believe that to truly enjoy the experience you need to be wandering the ship looking at the scenery and wildlife and meeting other people. For the early risers, there are beverages and pastries out from 6:00 am and you will usually find guests to engage with in the best viewing areas on the ship.
Larger Team
We run larger teams with usually about one team member to each seven passengers. Larger teams mean more interaction with guests and more time to focus on ensuring guests get the attention they need. In some cases, this may include an informal “history lesson” or “rounding up a group” for a small walk ensuring that everyone is involved in activities.

How does Vantage Explorations support solo travelers looking to share a stateroom?
One of the major barriers for solo travelers are ‘single supplements’, or additional charges because you are traveling alone. When traveling with Vantage Explorations, you won’t need to worry about these. We offer a service that helps you find a like-minded traveler (or two) of the same gender to share your stateroom with. This way you can avoid paying any extra single supplements during your voyage with us.
What if I want my own private stateroom?
That is fine. We offer the option to pay a 50% surcharge for a sole occupancy stateroom (on top of the twin occupancy rate).
Will the group be full of couples or solo travelers?
Many of our expeditioners travel solo, while others join with friends or partners—every voyage is different. If you’d like to know more about the types of travellers already booked on your chosen expedition, our Expedition Experts are happy to help. We’re here to make sure you find the voyage that’s the best fit for you.
Are other single travelers mainly women or men?
Generally, the split between women and men traveling solo on our trips is 50:50, however in recent years there has been a slight rise in the number of female solo travelers. If you'd like to know more about the others booked on your specific voyage, talk to our Expedition Experts today.
What age will the rest of my group be?
The age groups of passengers on our voyages vary hugely. Traditionally the majority of passengers have been over 50, however in recent years we have seen an increase in younger guests; particularly with the lure of our adventure activities, photography workshops, adding voyages to a round-the-world trip etc. We would say expect the age range to be diverse & rest assured that a good, mixed range of ages on the expedition makes the experience all the more fun.
